Immunogen
The epitope recognized by PLA0272 maps to a region between residue 400 and 450 of human Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 8 using the numbering given in entry NP_005145.3 (GeneID 9101).

USP8 (ubiquitin-specific processing protease 8) is also known as UBPY (ubiquitin isopeptidase Y). USP8 is a hydrolase that can remove conjugated ubiquitin from proteins and therefore plays an important regulatory role at the level of protein turnover by preventing degradation [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/ P40818].
